Introduction :Becoming a parent is a monumental life change. It's a blessing in multi folds. While some embrace it graciously,some find it an odd un-fit job. Primarily, Letting go off media-glossy notions of the perfect pregnancy or birth & easy parenting will help.(In the time of a snap, a just born turns out an adult. Bravo! ikykr ;) )

 

What?Parenthood is not only a term, it is an experience, a feeling and a way of life that can only be understood once we become a parent. Parenthood is much more than the most important job in the world. It’s also the most rewarding journey and THE biggest life change ever. And it’s not just life that changes for new parents, it’s everything. This often includes parents’ closest relationships - with their partner, family, friends and community…even their relationship with themselves.

 

How?While the adage that “nothing can prepare you for parenthood” is mostly true, there are some things you can do to get into the right head space before you have kids.

 

EMOTIONAL PREP:

1. Connect with your partner & establish parenting values.

2. Face fears and enroute expectations. BE FLEXIBLE.

3. Accept Everything from reality to recovery. Stay present & positive.

4. Cope up with stress.

5. Trust yourself,Be kind to yourself and your partner.

 

PHYSICAL PREP:

1. Rest enough. Eat well.

2. Prioritize time for self.

3. Simplify schedules.

4. Adapt newer routines, every now and then.

5. Exercise, physical activity plus calming practices are essentially helpful.

 

SOCIAL PREP:

1. Connect with friends and family on a regular basis.

2. Be aware of social groups to connect or simply contemplate.

3. Be a part of Group based activities

4. Take help, always or atleast whenever necessary.

5.  Befriend new parents and share experiences genuinely.

 

FINANCIAL PREP: Plan ahead with savings.

 

KNOWLEDGE PREP:

1. Read about existing parenting techniques and your suitability for the same.

2. Consider your own childhood. You learn a lot from your upbringing.

3. Pick one day at a time and surpass it better than the previous day.
